Film & Analog Coverage Clause (Second Shooter Add-On)

$65.00
Description

Film is having a moment at weddings — and "the light leaks are part of the look" only works until a roll comes back unusable and nobody agreed on what that means. If you hire a second shooter (or anyone on your team) to shoot film, Super 8, or analog, this add-on sets the standard before the day: what counts as delivered, what's just the medium, and who's liable when a lab mangles a roll.

What it covers:

1. Inherent characteristics. Grain, softness, motion blur, exposure and color variation, light leaks, and lab & scanning variation — normal to the medium, and not poor quality or a breach on their own.

2. Minimum usable deliverable. Sets a floor — at least [__] usable images from [__] rolls of in-date film, integrated into the final gallery. Missing the floor is a failure to deliver agreed coverage, separate from subjective "quality."

3. Professional care + digital safety capture. Proper loading, metering, and exposure; in-date, well-stored stock; X-ray hand-inspection; a reputable lab — plus mandatory digital "safety coverage" of primary moments so nothing is lost to a bad roll.

4. Liability, drawn fairly. The shooter isn't liable for the medium's inherent characteristics or true outside causes (lab error, stock defect, X-ray or transit damage) — but is on the hook for missing the minimum, skipping safety coverage, or gross negligence.

5. Precedence + optional add-ons. Clean precedence rules, plus optional Mandatory Hybrid, Approved Lab & Stock, and Supplemental (non-guaranteed) modes.

Who it's for:

Studios and lead photographers hiring second shooters or team members to capture film or analog — and anyone adding film as a service who wants the risk handled in writing. This is a modular add-on to your Second Shooter Photographer Agreement, not a standalone contract.

How it works:

Insert it as Section 1.E of your Second Shooter Photographer Agreement (or use it as a per-Event addendum). Fill in the minimum-images and rolls numbers, pick any optional add-ons, and copy-paste. You receive a PDF with a Google Doc link, highlighted customization fields, and implementation notes.

Why a real clause matters:

Film's whole appeal is imperfection — which is exactly why you need a written line between "beautiful grain" and "you didn't deliver." This sets that line and a digital safety net, so a single bad roll never becomes a refund fight.
