As a fellow surf-loving, globe-trotting, wife & husband duo, it makes sense why I feel so aligned with Jordan. I’m grateful to have this opportunity to share a little of her story with you. It’s a glorious coming together of marketing, Mother Earth & the magic of doing what you love.
It’s tempting to think you have little in common with the business behind a pro surfing brand, but I have a feeling you’ll be able to relate to Jordan & Ben’s experience. As entrepreneurs, “it never stops” probably sounds familiar no matter what business you’re running.
Here’s what Jordan has to share:
“Before working with Ben, I hardly traveled but that quickly changed. Our business depends on traveling & going where the best swell is to surf. Working while traveling can be difficult. Ben & I are a team. In the beginning, it was just the two of us on the road. I would help film everything for our YouTube channel, from surfing to daily life. Then, Ben would edit all night to upload the video in the morning. For the past 4 years, we’ve been working on a documentary of Ben surfing in all fifty states–it’s called ‘For The Dream.’ Traveling for work is a blessing–I’m grateful we get to do it together and with the small team we’ve built over the years.
When you work for yourself, it never stops. Keeping a presence on social media doesn’t stop. We have to continuously create ideas to film & upload content no matter what’s going on. My day to day schedule changes, but mostly I handle our monthly schedules, point of content for brands & handle freelance marketing I do on the side.
Staying organized is my main goal in business. Keeping a schedule isn't always easy while traveling, as things pop up constantly, but if I keep our team focused on the main goal every day, everything usually works out. Every day is a new lesson, too. Even if something isn't perfect, I learn from it & don't beat myself up about it.”
